Stephenville, Texas is a very traditional town, dotted with churches and surrounded by dairy farms.

Bradley Cadenhead lives here.

This young man grew up fearing God. He was independent of the world and even seemed a little weak. Their family never misses church services every Sunday and is quite pious and docile.

But it was such a young man who sat in front of the computer and founded an online organization that preyed on vulnerable children and established his own fan base around the world.

He and his followers tricked his victims into sharing indecent photos and then blackmailed them into self-harm or filming humiliating acts. Countless minors have suffered at their hands and even ended their own lives.

This organization is named after the zip code of his hometown – “764”. They are recognized by the United States and Canada as a genuine terrorist organization.

Now, 19-year-old Cadenhead is serving his second year in prison for 80 years. For a young man who is not yet 20 years old, such a sentence is quite harsh and rare, but authorities said that such a sentence is fully worthy of the crime Cadenhead committed.

At the sentencing hearing, the prosecutor in charge of the case said: “This may be one of those rare times when we have the opportunity to confront evil.”

To understand how a bullied country kid built one of the most horrific criminal groups on the Internet, the media interviewed his friends, family, and classmates, and reviewed hundreds of criminal and family court documents, finally piecing together his abhorrent and pitiable first half of his life.

When Cadenhead was young, the family had a reputation for piety.

“From the day he was born, they never missed a church service,” Cadenhead’s Bible teacher said.

Cadenhead was a very well-behaved child. He grew up with three half-brothers and sisters, one of whom he particularly admired and whom he considered his teacher.

Cadenhead was a bit shy, and when he was about 6 years old, the kids at church started bullying him. But his parents did not provide timely help. In fact, his parents were divorcing at the time, and his parents quarreled again and again, and finally he was forcibly taken away by his father.

After his arrest, Cadenhead spoke about the experience.

“When my mom left, it affected me a lot,” he told police.

He began to harm himself and became obsessed with torture videos. He came into contact with these videos while playing online games. For him, this was a rare “stimulus”.

From this day on, Cadenhead lost his faith and started causing trouble in Bible study class.

His classmates at school also noticed the change. A classmate said that Cadenhead suddenly started swearing when he was in fifth grade. “He always seemed to be upset about something.”

However, for a child who has been bullied since childhood, swearing will not make people look at him differently, but will only lead to more serious bullying.

“This has always been the case,” the classmate said. “People thought he was easy to bully. He wouldn’t fight back, he would just suffer in silence.”

By 2018, Cadenhead, then in seventh grade, fell ill. One day, his father found him curled up in the fetal position on the floor of his room. He was talking nonsense and crying, and there were shallow wounds on his arms.

The panicked father called a mental health crisis hotline and was told it would be three months before his son could be scheduled for an in-person evaluation. Realizing the emergency, his father took Cadenhead to the emergency room and then to a mental health facility for treatment in a city more than 100 miles away.

Over the next few years, Cadenhead had to be hospitalized several times a year, but was discharged quickly each time. The father said: “No one really wanted to help him. The doctors always changed his medicine and let him go.”

After this, Cadenhead’s condition became increasingly unsatisfactory.

He was caught by classmates openly viewing gory videos on their classroom computers; teachers overheard him discussing his thoughts on building bombs, adding silencers to guns, and watching “homicide videos” online.

His only friend at the time said: “He hated the world because of what was happening in his life.”

After the teacher called the police, Cadenhead was found guilty of making terroristic threats, and juvenile court sentenced him to one year of probation.

Psychological evaluation results showed thatHe suffered from “mood dysregulation disorder”(a common disorder in adolescents characterized by frequent verbal outbursts and chronic severe irritability), and “disturbed by parental relationships.”

Experts felt this was something that happens to every adolescent, and as a result, the last chance to help him was missed.

The summer of ninth grade, Cadenhead’s parents’ legal battle finally came to an end, and his mother gained custody of him. But for him, this is not a good thing. After the divorce, my mother became addicted to alcoholism and often stayed out at night.

In August 2020, Cadenhead entered high school. But when he arrived at the new school, he showed unusual anxiety. He began to vomit frequently and refused to go to school after about a week.

Cadenhead’s grandmother said that at the time, his father was working as a maintenance worker in a drug rehabilitation center. Every day on his way to work, he would come to his ex-wife’s house and try to persuade Cadenhead to go to school, but he would never open the door.

Without the constraints of school, Cadenhead often spent all night in front of the computer. His mother worked during the day and partyed at night, and did not fulfill her supervisory responsibilities at all.

final,At the age of 15, Cadenhead officially dropped out of school. Almost at the same time, he created his first 764 chat room.

He goes by the pseudonym “Felix” and frequently appears in various Discord chat rooms. He posted shocking pictures to encourage interested users to join his private server.

Most of these private spaces are not regulated by the Discord company, which means that Cadenhead and his followers can talk about various illegal topics here without anyone knowing.

With “Felix” being online almost around the clock, his 764 chat room quickly began to grow. The behavior of him and his fans became more and more egregious. They began to be no longer content with sharing child pornography, and even began to actively recruit children to harm themselves or harm household pets to satisfy their perverted desires.

In fact,Kadenhead later told police that he wasn’t really interested in child pornography, but that he could use it to recruit other abusers into his group and control and intimidate others, which was what he really enjoyed.

Many kids took the bait.

A 14-year-old Oklahoma girl was tricked by “Felix” into sending nude photos, then blackmailed and forced to cut herself and kill her pet hamster on camera.

The girl’s mother said that the girl was a horror movie lover and was in a chat room dedicated to discussing bloody content when she was tricked into entering the 764 server by “Felix”.

In November 2021, an American man stranded in Kyrgyzstan set himself on fire and died, live broadcasting his death process to viewers on Discord.

He was bewitched by a 15-year-old Eastern European girl who he met online and was associated with the 764 organization.

In October 2024, a 14-year-old boy “Slain” was arrested. He was a member of the 764 organization and ran a branch organization called “No Lives Matter”. He live-streamed eight attacks and three stabbings in Hasselby, Sweden.

On February 12, 2025, police in Bolzano, Italy arrested a teenager and charged him with participating in a terrorist organization, manufacturing and using explosive devices, illegal possession of firearms, possession of criminally damaged items, and distributing child pornography. It is said that he planned to make a murder film. He is also associated with the 764 organization.

……

Cadenhead needs these vices to arm himself with.

Using a picture of an Australian sex offender as his profile picture, he boasted to his group of friends about his ability to manipulate young girls into engaging in harmful and degrading behaviour.

He said he collected terabytes of child pornography and posted a video involving sex with an infant.

Cadenhead says he loves child pornography and is proud of it:

“I’m known as a pedophile!”

“Felix, god of child porn,” another user responded.

On the Internet, Cadenhead arms himself with blood, violence and pedophilia, but in fact, his background is still cowardly. During an online argument, he invited another user to compete offline.

But in the end, the address he left was also that of his neighbor…

In fact, he has also been censored and banned by the platform. But he always has a way,

“Almost all my accounts have been banned,” said a person named Felix.User #0744 said. “I have used up 400 Felix accounts.”

He boasted that there was nothing law enforcement could do to stop him.

A user once wanted to report him for posting child pornography online, but he said boldly: “Someone has reported me to the FBI 15 times, but they have done nothing.”

In fact, before Cadenhead was arrested, Discord had filed 58 reports (for different accounts) with law enforcement. What we are waiting for now is when he will be investigated.

In August 2021, local police received one of 58 reports indicating that a user had uploaded child pornography somewhere in the town. Authorities eventually traced the images to Cadenhead’s mother’s apartment.

On the afternoon of August 25, 2021, the police came to the apartment with a search warrant. Cadenhead opened the door with messy hair. According to the police at the scene, his room was filled with an unpleasant smell. The police found a laptop in the room that contained 20 pictures of underage girls performing sexual acts.

They also found photos of children carving words like “I love CP764” and “Brad is a pedophile” on their bodies, as well as multiple videos of underage users being groomed, according to court records.

In March 2023, Cadenhead admitted to possessing child pornography, but he did not want to go to jail.

In fact, his family and his lawyers have been working hard to win his freedom. At a sentencing hearing two months later, his behavioral health therapist told the judge that Cadenhead needed treatment, medication and supervision, not jail time.

“Looking at this case, we cannot underestimate the seriousness of Bradley’s actions, but … sentencing him to life in prison for something he did when he was 15 years old is far more than the crime warranted.”

The judge in charge of the case privately viewed the pictures and videos stored in Cadenhead’s computer in the office. After returning to the court, he solemnly said to Cadenhead:

“There’s definitely something wrong with you, something very serious.”

In Cadenhead’s hometown, some who knew him struggled to connect him to the notorious pedophile on the Internet. One classmate said: “He needed help, but he didn’t know how to get it, so he vented his anger online.”

Perhaps there is something worthy of sympathy in Cadenhead’s childhood experience, and perhaps the mistakes he committed were not just about himself. But no matter what, he has made a mistake and he has to pay the price for his actions.

Nowadays, many predatory gangs on the Internet imitate his crime pattern and regard him as a role model.

Last September, the FBI warned the public that new gangs were targeting vulnerable minors, including those suffering from depression and suicidal tendencies.

Especially the 764 gang he leads. Thousands of hidden members in the team continue to evolve, split, change names, and eventually hide in darker corners of the Internet.

In these parts, Cadenhead still has a place.

“If Brad were here, we could become 764 gods again…”
