Google Nano Banana 2 unveiled

In November last year, Google launched Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro image model) while it was hot, allowing users to generate more detailed and higher-quality pictures and providing “studio-level creative control.”

According to Google,Nano Banana 2, or Gemini 3.1 Flash image model, combines the image generation quality, reasoning capabilities and advanced world knowledge of Nano Banana Pro with the “lightning generation speed” of Flash models

This means that a range of features that were once exclusive to the “Pro” series models are rolled down to the most basic version. Nano Banana 2 also supports the consistent appearance of up to 5 characters and the faithful presentation of 14 objects. The improvement of natural language understanding ability allows the model to more accurately capture the nuances of complex prompt words, thereby generating images that are closer to the idea.

The new generation supports various aspect ratios and resolutions up to 4K, and delivers more vivid lighting, richer textures and clearer details.

The accurate text rendering and multi-lingual translation capabilities of the Pro image model are also inherited. Previously, this feature was only available to Gemini subscribers. With the launch of Nano Banana 2, free version Gemini users can also use this feature.

According to the “Large Model Arena” Arena.ai, Nano Banana 2 immediately topped the list of Vincent pictures after it was released. At the same time, the cost per image is only $0.067, which is about half that of Nano Banana Pro.

Effective immediately, Nano Banana 2 has become the default image model in Google Gemini, search and video editing tool Flow. The Nano Banana 2 model will replace the Nano Banana Pro options in the Fast, Thinking, and Pro generation functions of the Gemini app.
