Multiple fighter jets were dispatched urgently!

Wednesday afternoon local time,Two international flights bound for Montreal were escorted by Canadian Air Force CF-18 and US Army F-16 fighter jets until they landed safely.

There was also a KC-135 aerial tanker accompanying him. Such a large formation is usually only seen in military exercises.

As soon as the plane landed, the Quebec Provincial Police rushed up.Two male passengers were taken away from the two flights, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s.

What happened?

Things start on Wednesday afternoon.Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport was alerted to a suspicious suitcase found on a landing flight. Airport security immediately activated standard emergency procedures, one runway was closed in an emergency, and the number of incoming flights was cut in half.

On the other side, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) also moved. NORAD issued a statement saying that its fighter jets and tanker aircraft “continue to monitor the situation until the commercial flight involved safely reaches its destination.”

What’s even more exaggerated is that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) posted a notice directly on its official website:All flights to Montreal suspended due to “bomb threat”. The ban took effect at 3:02 p.m. and was not lifted until almost 5 p.m.

The two suspects were taken away and interviewed by investigators but were later released.

Quebec provincial police spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville said one of them may face fraud-related charges. On Thursday, the provincial police updated the news: only one of the two people may be charged.

Air Canada confirmed Thursday that both men were traveling on an Air Canada-operated flight. Air Canada stated that “the flight has landed safely and operations have returned to normal.” If it is inconvenient to say anything else, please ask the police.

But strangely, the Quebec branch of the federal Royal Mounted Police (RCMP) directly distanced itself from the relationship and responded to an email saying:“This matter has nothing to do with national security and we have no involvement.”

Airport spokesman Eric Forest later also spoke out,It said that after investigation by law enforcement agencies, the threat was “not substantiated.”Standard security protocols were initiated after a suspicious suitcase was discovered on a landing flight as a routine matter.

By around 6 p.m., both runways at the airport were back in operation.

So let’s take a look at this:A suspicious suitcase triggered a bomb threat alert, fighter jets were escorted, runways were closed, and flights to Montreal were banned across the United States. Two people were arrested. After an investigation, the threat was found to be unsubstantiated. In the end, there may only be a fraud charge.

After a whole afternoon of fussing, a bunch of flights were delayed and canceled, and the schedules of a large number of passengers were disrupted. Quebec’s prosecutor’s office said Thursday it had no information to release at this time.

There was only a few hours between the time when the fighter jets escorted the incident and when “no evidence was found”. As for what was in the suspicious suitcase, what was the relationship between the two people, and why one was suspected of fraud – the police did not answer any of these questions.
