According to CCTV News, CCTV reporters learned on February 25, local time, that Lawrence Summers, the former U.S. Treasury Secretary and former president of Harvard University, will resign from his teaching position at Harvard University after the end of this academic year due to his involvement in the Epstein case.
Previously, the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee released documents revealing ongoing correspondence between Summers and Epstein, but there is currently no evidence of illegal behavior.
According to information released by Harvard, Summers has been on leave since November last year and will not return to teaching before leaving Harvard.

Harvard spokesman Jason Newton said in a statement that Summers’ resignation was related to the school’s review of recently released documents on the Epstein case. The spokesman said that Summers resigned from his position as co-director of the Musawar Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School on the 25th. He has held this position since 2011.
Summers served as U.S. Treasury Secretary from 1999 to 2001 and president of Harvard from 2001 to 2006. He also served as director of the White House National Economic Council in the Obama administration.
Documents released by the U.S. Congress in November last year showed that after Epstein was convicted of soliciting prostitution of minors in 2008, he still maintained contact with a large number of political and business celebrities, including Summers, and the two parties interacted frequently. After the relevant information was disclosed, Summers issued a statement on the evening of the 17th of that month, saying that he was “deeply ashamed of his behavior” and announced that he would withdraw from “the public affairs he has undertaken” but would continue to teach. The next day, a Harvard University spokesperson confirmed that the school would investigate Summers’ relationship with Epstein.
