Two men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering 85-year-old Sydney man Chris Baghsarian, and a video of the capture has been released.
Both men are in their 20s. They were arrested after police raided two homes in Sydney’s northwest in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Video released by NSW Police shows heavily armed officers forcing entry into two properties in Kenthurst and Castle Hill.
One of the men, a 29-year-old man, was in an embarrassing scene when his pants slipped down to his ankles while being dragged into a police car.
The man was also wearing a counterfeit designer T-shirt.
Another 24-year-old man was shirtless and barefoot when he was arrested at a property near Castle Hill.

Just hours before his arrest, police discovered Mr Baghsarian’s body near Lynwood Golf and Country Club in Pitt Town on Tuesday.

This marked the end of an 11-day search operation. He was abducted from his North Ryde home on February 13.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Baghsarian was not the intended target of the kidnapping, but the victim of mistaken identity.

NSW Police said in a statement:
“Following extensive investigation, at approximately 6.30am today (Wednesday, February 25, 2026), task force detectives, assisted by the Raptor Squad, executed two search warrants in Kenthurst and Castle Hill.”
“Police arrested a 29-year-old man in Kenthurst and a 24-year-old man in Castle Hill.”

The two men have been taken to the police station and the investigation is still ongoing. They are expected to be charged with kidnapping and murder-related charges.
Detectives are still searching properties in Kenthurst and Castle Hill, as well as investigating a third property in Lake Macquarie, Hunter, NSW.
A Toyota Carraro has been towed from a Kenthurst mansion valued at about $4.7 million, and police have also taken bags of evidence from Castle Hill.
Police seized two electronic devices from the Lake Macquarie address.
Acting Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Marks told a press conference on Wednesday:
“I want to reassure the public that our work is not over yet and we will continue to identify and identify all those involved.”
He added that police will allege that the two arrested men were in the North Ryde area on the morning of the alleged kidnapping, and that the two men had only been booked by the police for “minor matters”.
“We will allege in court that the two men were involved in a common criminal plan to kidnap Mr Baghsarian and cause his death while he was unlawfully detained and they will be charged with murder.”
Marks said searches in Kenthurst and Castle Hill led to detectives seizing electronic devices, clothing and other items that police believe are relevant to the case.
He added,The police are still investigating how much the two knew about the kidnapping and their specific involvement, and are also looking for other people involved.
Police suspect at least two other people were involved in the kidnapping.

Following the arrest, Mr Baghsarian’s family issued a statement:
“We welcome the arrests made in connection with the abduction of our father and grandfather. We are still trying to digest this incident and ask that the media respect our privacy.”
Flowers, handwritten cards and a pair of shoes were placed at the door of the North Ryde residence on Wednesday to pay their respects.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the two arrested men were “assisting police investigations”.
At the same time, an important figure in the underground criminal circle threatened to retaliate against the “idiot” suspected of kidnapping and murder.
The alleged target of the kidnapping was Dimitri Stepanyan, a Sydney businessman with a criminal record and links to the Alameddine crime family.
The media previously disclosed that Stepanyan’s parents lived only three doors away from Baghsarian’s home and suddenly left their residence on the day of the kidnapping.
Neighbors said the two returned to the residence briefly on Monday to collect some belongings and left again after their identities were made public.
