According to the Financial Associated Press, Bill Gates, chairman of the Gates Foundation, unexpectedly appeared in Zhangjiang, Shanghai on the evening of February 11 to attend an event called “Action Creates Hope.” The event focused on global health and development issues, during which Gates also held a dialogue with documentary director Zhou Yijun.
According to reporters from the Gates Foundation, Gates’s visit to China aims to learn about the latest progress of Chinese partners in key areas such as infectious disease prevention and control, maternal and child health, and agriculture, and to explore how to better apply relevant experience and technology to the international community, mainly in low- and middle-income countries, to promote tangible results in global health and development.
This visit is Gates’s second visit to China after about two and a half years in June 2023.
According to China Business News, Gates directly addressed the controversy surrounding his relationship with Epstein in an exclusive interview.Gates clarified, “I did have dinner with Epstein a few times between 2011 and 2014, but I have nothing new to add about this matter. I never had contact with any of the victims or visited his island.”
He further explained that at the time, he simply thought that Epstein knew many wealthy people who could help promote funding for global health.“He promised me that we could raise a lot of money for global health. It turned out that nothing happened and we didn’t raise a penny.”
He further stated, “I do feel that associating with such a person is a mistake in itself. But I must emphasize that I have not had any contact with any victims. The email that was recently exposed was actually an email that he never sent. It seems that he was writing to himself and planning some way to pressure me. It is difficult for me to judge his true intentions. But I have never received or seen that email. I have repeatedly emphasized from the beginning: I regret and apologize for having contact with him, but I have never contacted any victims.”
According to emails released by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 30, Epstein implied in unsent emails that Gates had engaged in extramarital sex and contracted sexually transmitted diseases.
Gates said that he has also tried to face his own mistakes honestly and think about how to continuously improve. “I have always loved innovation and feel that I am very lucky. Microsoft’s business is very successful, and the work of the foundation is also progressing smoothly. At present, I am in good health and have three excellent children.”

On January 30, local time, the U.S. Department of Justice released the largest batch of documents related to the Epstein case to date, further revealing the inextricable connections between European and American celebrities and political figures and the sex offender. Among them, not only Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates (Bill Gates) is involved, but his ex-wife Melinda French Gates (Melinda French Gates) is also affected.
According to a report by the US “Capitol Hill” on February 3, local time, Melinda said that day that Gates needs to explain the accusations made against him in the latest batch of Epstein-related documents.
“It’s up to those people, including my ex-husband, to answer those questions about things that I didn’t know and couldn’t even fully understand,” she told NPR’s podcast. “They need to be responsible for those things, not me.”
Melinda, who divorced Gates in 2021, now says that these recent developments have reminded her of “some very, very painful moments in her marriage.”
“For me, every time those details come up, I feel bad, right?” she told NPR. “Because it reminds me of some very, very painful moments in my marriage that I’ve moved on from. I’ve intentionally put it all behind me and moved on. I’m in an unexpectedly beautiful place in my life now.”

On January 30, local time, the U.S. Department of Justice released the latest batch of documents related to the Epstein case, involving more than 3 million pages of materials, approximately 2,000 videos, and 180,000 pictures.
According to a previous report by the Financial Times, a batch of emails from suspected Epstein accounts claimed that Microsoft co-founder Gates tried to hide the fact that he had an STD from his wife Melinda after having sex with a “Russian girl.”
One of the emails that Epstein allegedly sent to his own account shows that the late sex offender was also dissatisfied with Gates for terminating their relationship.
The email read: “What’s even more egregious is that you later begged me with tears in your eyes to delete all emails about your STDs, your request for me to help you get antibiotics to secretly give to Melinda, and your description of your genitals.”
Another email read: “I have been entrusted and mistakenly agreed to participate in many things that ranged from moral violations to ethical violations…from helping Bill obtain drugs to deal with the consequences of his sexual relationship with a Russian girl, to facilitating his secret trysts with married women, and even being asked to provide Adela (a central nervous system stimulant) for a bridge game.”

In response, a spokesman for Gates said the accusations were “completely ridiculous and fabricated,” adding: “The only thing these documents prove is that Epstein was dissatisfied at being unable to maintain a relationship with Gates, and that he would do anything to frame and discredit Gates.”
In addition, according to previous reports by the New York Times, AFP and other foreign media, in addition to Gates, the latest batch of celebrities involved in Epstein documents include US President Trump, former US President Clinton, US Secretary of Commerce Lutnick, Tesla CEO Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, British Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, British Prince Andrew, the Crown Princess of Norway, etc. They have all been exposed to greater or lesser extent in their dealings with Epstein.
Epstein was convicted of sexually assaulting minors as early as 2008, but documents show that many of the above people still interacted with him frequently after that.
The documents reportedly contain at least 4,500 references to Trump, including a list of sexual assault allegations compiled by the FBI, many involving anonymous callers and unsubstantiated reports. Trump has long denied any wrongdoing with Epstein.
It is worth mentioning that when the U.S. Department of Justice released the documents on January 30, local time, it also attached a statement, stating that “some of the documents contain false and sensational accusations against President Trump.” These accusations were submitted to the FBI before the 2020 U.S. election.
“It needs to be made clear that these accusations are baseless and completely untrue,” the statement read.
According to the Beijing News, on February 4, Bill Gates responded to the newly released Epstein case documents for the first time and denied the accusations against him.
He claimed that he had only attended a few dinner parties, had never been to Epstein’s island, and had never met any women. Gates claimed that Epstein wrote an email to himself that was never sent and that the email was fake, and questioned whether Epstein wanted to attack him in some way. Gates also said he regretted knowing Epstein and regretting every minute he spent with him.
