8.30 New Zealand prestigious schools open day
This article will take you to plan your studies step by step
Select a major accurately and avoid intermediary pits
There are also three benefits for a limited time!
“Can the courses chosen by the child in Y12 be connected to the target major?” “The NCEA scores are just enough, will the prestigious Australian and New Zealand schools be eliminated?” “I chose a popular major, but I have no idea whether I can stay in New Zealand to work and immigrate in the future”; what’s even more troublesome is that there are thousands of study abroad agencies on the market, some say they can be admitted, while some charge high fees but can’t explain the service clearly, for fear of choosing the wrong institution, which will delay the future of the child.
As a local institution that has been deeply engaged in studying abroad and immigrants from Australia and New Zealand for many years,TNC pilotI understand this “double confusion” too much – parents are afraid that one wrong plan will affect their children’s future, and are afraid that time and money will be cheated by the agent.
Today’s article starts with the most confused point of parents. While helping you sort out your child’s ideas for going to school, you can teach you to avoid intermediary traps, so that you can be a solid “school backing” for your child.
Children go to school, these 4 “fears” must be broken in advance
Many parents are getting closer to graduation when they are in their children’s Y12/Y13 stage, because they don’t think about the “key issues” thoroughly. These 4 “fear” that parents often have, let’s help you find solutions one by one:
1. Afraid of “wrong course selection”: Will you miss the target major?
Many parents and children think that “Y12 course selection is enough to rely on interest”, but they do not know that many majors in New Zealand universities have “hard thresholds” – for example, the engineering major of the University of Auckland, which clearly requires Y12 to take mathematics (Calculus) and physics; Waikato University’s preschool/primary education major, and Y12 English (Level 2) scores meet the standards. Last year, there was a Y12 student who wanted to apply for business at Aoi University, but did not choose accounting classes. When I waited until Y13, I found that some directions of business needed accounting foundation, so I could only make up for it temporarily, which delayed my grade sprint.
Methods to break the deadlock: First let the child list 2-3 majors of interest, and then compare the “Professional Course Selection Requirements” on the official website of the target university(For example, the “Undergraduate Entry Requirements” page of Ao University) circle out the courses that must be taken. If you can’t understand the English requirements of the official website, or are not sure whether the course selection matches, find a local experienced consultant to help check it out – after all, the logic of NCEA’s course selection is completely different from that of domestic, and professionals can help you avoid the trap of “learning a course in vain”.
I don’t know how to apply to the University of Auckland?
As the official authorized agent of the University of Auckland, the TNC pilot team participates in multiple university training sessions every year to master the latest courses and admissions information.
Encountering special circumstances? We can directly obtain first-hand answers from professional teachers of Ao University.

——Be familiar with every detail of Ao University admission, which is worthy of your trust and trust.
2. Afraid of “application to be smashed”: Worrying that you won’t apply to a prestigious school
In recent years, the competition for popular majors in famous Australian and New Zealand universities has become increasingly fierce, and high scores alone cannot guarantee admission.
Many parents often wonder: “The children’s grades are evenly matched, why are they still not getting the offer?”
In fact, the reason is often:
PS lacks highlights:Some students only write their grades in their personal statements, but do not reflect their experience in competitions, volunteer services, scientific research or club activities, making it difficult to stand out among a group of outstanding applicants.
Blindly chasing famous schools:Parents pay more attention to school rankings, but ignore professional choices. The child did not make a judgment based on his interests, expertise, career planning and English level. As a result, the child entered a prestigious school, but because of the inappropriate courses, he failed the subjects and changed majors, and even was confused about his future direction after graduation.
Policy not understood:Australian and New Zealand study and immigration policies are often adjusted. If information lags, it is easy to make wrong study plans, which will affect academic and career development.
We met a student two years ago, and she failed a lot of subjects during her college years.The reason is that her study abroad plan is entirely dominated by her parents, and there is no guidance from professional consultants throughout the process.
In fact, this student is more suitable for business or liberal arts, but her parents chose her statistics major. Due to lack of interest and motivation, her study status is getting worse and worse, and her grades frequently fail to meet the standards. Not only did she receive academic warnings from the school, she eventually had to drop out of a prestigious school.
The key to breaking the deadlock: plan ahead!
It is recommended that students start preparing in the first half of Y13 semester:
Clarify and improve extracurricular experience (volunteering, competitions, short-term internships, etc.) and show unique advantages in PS. Last year, we helped a Y13 student apply for engineering majors in prestigious schools. Although his equal score is similar to those of the same batch of applicants, we highlighted his experience in robotics competitions and his career planning in PS. In the end, he got an offer two weeks ahead of the students with the same score!
Students need to start preparing relevant materials at least 9 months in advance before submitting their application.
The consulting team of TNC Pilot will combine:
Students’ personal interests and expertise
English proficiency and learning ability
Career Planning and Future Development
Course difficulty
Latest immigration policies
And relying on our years of practical experience and the successful service experience of four-digit customers, we will scientifically and systematically formulate university professional plans for students to help them take the first step in studying abroad.
3. I am afraid of choosing the wrong major and cannot stay in New Zealand
Many parents only look at “popular” when choosing majors, but do not consider immigration issues – for example, some children have studied a pure liberal arts major and only after graduation find that they are not on the list of green and scarce occupations in New Zealand, so it is difficult to stay in a new job.
As for short-term majors such as nurses, social workers, registered teachers, IT, engineering foot therapists, nutritionists, etc., not only have high graduation employment rates (for example, the starting salary for primary education is about 60,000 RMB per year), skilled immigrants can not only migrate in the green occupation list or in the traditional six-point professional and technical immigrants. There was a Y13 student who originally wanted to follow the trend to learn psychology. The parents were worried about immigration. After consulting us, they found that their child had good grades in biology and transferred to the university of Auckland for a nurse major. Now they are in their junior year and are already working as an intern nurse in a local hospital. After obtaining a work contract, they can take the “registered nurse” immigration path after graduation. There is no need to wait. They can obtain New Zealand resident status 3 to 6 months after graduation.
Methods to break the deadlock:
Before choosing a major, check the “Green List” of the New Zealand Immigration Bureau.Prioritize the majors on the list;
At the same time, it combines the child’s grades and interests – for example, if the child has good mathematics, IT, engineering, and health sciences, they are all good choices; they like to deal with people, have good English, and are more suitable for teachers, nurses, and social workers. Don’t just look at “popular”, choose the major of “popular + easy immigration”.
4. Afraid of “poor performance”: I don’t have the chance to go to a good university
Not all children can get an ideal NCEA score. Many parents think that “the children can only go to poor schools” because their children’s grades are not enough. In fact, Australia and New Zealand have many “connection paths” that can help their children “save the country on a curve.”
Last year, there was a Y13 student who was 5 points away from the university’s UE score line. Parents were particularly anxious. We helped our children apply for the international freshman Diploma (diploma) at Messi University. The score requirements for this course are much lower than those of applying to the university directly.After finishing the study, he went directly to Massey University’s second year in Business ScienceThis year, the child’s grades at Messi are still ranked in the upper middle and upper class.
How to break the deadlock: Don’t panic if you don’t have enough results
These 3 paths can be selected:
International freshman:For example, Massey University, AUT Auckland Polytechnic University, Waikato University, UC Canterbury University, Lincoln University, and Otago University have many majors offering international freshman courses, with an admission requirement of only 5.5 (single items not less than 5.0); the academic requirements are also much lower. After studying, you can go directly to the sophomore year, and you don’t spend more time, spend more money and do not take detours.
Government Polytechnic Institute: Diploma: Business and IT Diploma from Unitec, Wintec, Ara, NMIT, Wellington Institute of Technology and other science and technology. After studying, you can directly enter the corresponding major for undergraduate degree;
Preparatory courses:If the score is poor, the preparatory course admission threshold is low, the international recognition is high, there are many major choices, and universities recognize each other, and after reaching the admission score line for the corresponding major, you can study for the first year of undergraduate degree;
Language Transmission Course:You can apply for IELTS before reaching 6.0. You can first study the university language center course, and then directly connect to the main course, so you don’t have to take IELTS again.
After solving the confusion in going to school, the next step is to choose an agent. Many parents are afraid of being “scaught by the agency” – some agents charge 20,000 yuan agency fees, but only help their children with basic study abroad services; some agents promise to “enroll insure”, but after the children are rejected, various invisible fees and various plans arise.Teach you to use 4 standards to filter and find truly reliable study abroad immigration agents:
Standard 1: Look at the “official authorization” – Are there any direct agency qualifications for the eight public universities in New Zealand?
Eight public universities in New Zealand (AU, Viet University, Otago, etc.) have very strict requirements on cooperative intermediaries.Only institutions that meet the professionalism and integrity standards can obtain “official authorization”.With this authorization, the intermediary can communicate directly with the enrollment officers of the college, and the application progress is faster, and the latest policies of the college can be grasped as soon as possible. If the intermediary says that he is “can apply for the Eighth National Congress” but cannot provide a proof of authorization, it is likely to be a “second-hand agent”, and the information is prone to lag behind, and it may even be delayed due to unprofessional delays or application errors.
TNC Pilot’s confidence: We are a formal organization registered locally in New Zealand and have the official authorization of all eight national universities (please check the TNC Pilot’s official website or the official website of major universities or contact the heads of major universities to confirm). Last year, I helped nearly three-digit students apply to famous schools in Australia and New Zealand, and got the offer of famous schools as soon as one day because I could directly connect with universities and seamlessly communicate and solve any problems.
Standard 2: Look at the “advisor experience” – Does the consultant really understand the local New Zealand education and immigration?
Many intermediary consultants have never studied in New Zealand and can’t even figure out what NCEA is, but they dare to give parents blind advice. A reliable consultant must understand both “application for further studies” and “immigration policies”. It is best to have official qualifications. For example, some parents want their children to choose majors that can immigrate, but consultants who don’t understand will only recommend “popular majors”, while consultants who know immigration will combine the list of shortage occupations, the latest immigration policies, and years of work experience to help their children choose the “professional + immigration” dual-adaptation direction.
TNC’s strength: In our consulting team, there are several licensed immigration consultants in New Zealand (the registration number can be checked on the Immigration Consultant Supervision Network) and an Australian QEAC registered consultant. More importantly, the team members have studied and lived in Australia and New Zealand – the consultant in charge of Y12/Y13 planning, he is a graduate of the University of Auckland/Massey University/AUT/Otago/UC. He knows how to choose courses in local high schools and what kind of applicants he likes. The advice given is “down-to-earth” and will not speak empty talk.
Standard 3: Look at “transparent fees” – Are there any unknown “invisible fees”?
Many parents are “attracted by the intermediary at low prices” and only after signing the contract, they find that there are various “extra fees”: “application fees”, “service fees” and “ext fees”, which add up to several thousand New York dollars. A parent complained to us that the agency I had previously asked for “free application” at first, but later he had to charge “material translation fees” and “college communication fees”. The “visa service fee” cost nearly 10,000 yuan, which was particularly annoying.
TNC Pilot’s Commitment: If there are no doubts and special circumstances, for any international student in New Zealand, there will be zero agency fees and no unidentified form of study abroad agency fees will be charged! From school selection, filling out applications, writing PS, to guiding visa materials, most of the core services are free – our profits rely on the labor fees of colleges and universities, not making parents’ “hard money”. All fees will be clearly stated in advance and will not be hidden.
Standard 4: Look at the “after-sales follow-up” – is it “if you take the offer, you don’t care?”
Many agents help their children get an offer and everything goes well, but parents know that when their children arrive at college, there is still a lot of things to worry about: how to find safe accommodation? How to apply for a bank card and tax number when you just arrived in New Zealand? What should I do if I can’t keep up with my studies? There was a student who had an agent who helped him get the university offer and there was no further information. The child had just arrived in New Zealand and could not even find the airport. Finally, he contacted us through a Chinese community to solve the problem of picking up and accommodation.
TNC’s “nanny-style” service:
Our services are not “one-time deals” –
From the initial child’s interests and learning direction choices, TNC combines many years of experience to give the most reasonable suggestions;
The matching of majors in prestigious schools and children’s interest directions will be made in a timely manner according to the school’s enrollment policies and changes in each year, laying a solid foundation for applying to prestigious schools;
After entering the school, I regularly communicate with my children about my learning situation. If I can’t keep up, I will help connect with the school’s tutoring resources; I can even guide my children to find internships. Last year, a student who studied IT practiced through the local technology company we connected with, and directly received a full-time offer after graduation.
