On August 18, 2025, the latest progress was made in a case of a Chinese female student jumping off a building abroad. The reporter learned from the family that the Public Security Bureau has filed a case.
On March 22, 2025, a muffled sound from the downstairs of an apartment in Kuala Lumpur tear apart the hope of a Chinese family.
The 20-year-old Xiaowen (pseudonym) jumped down from the 39th floor and ended his young life.At this time, it has only been 9 days since she arrived in Malaysia to start her overseas student career.
After the 2024 college entrance examination, Xiaowen’s grades were not ideal, so the family thought of letting her go abroad to study for undergraduate studies.
They contacted the study abroad program through Zhucheng Founder Education Institution. When school was about to start, they were told that the students in the initial school they chose were not recruited enough, so they temporarily transferred to the international undergraduate program of Shandong Art Institute.
Xiaowen arrived in Malaysia on March 14, 2025, preparing to start her study abroad life.
March 18th,On the fifth day after Xiaowen arrived in Malaysia, she received a call that changed her destiny.
On the other end of the phone, he claimed to be “Police Du Feng” from Hongkou District, Shanghai, claiming that Xiaowen was a “major suspect” of a criminal group.
The other party accused her of selling information, causing an old woman to commit suicide after being cheated of high amounts of money. In order to make Xiaowen believe, the “Police Officer Du” also sent a photo of the prisoner being detained, claiming that she was confessed by her accomplices.
The scam not only threatens Xiaowen, but also shows an attitude that seems to understand her.
They claimed to “believe” her explanation, but asked her to pay a “margin” of RMB 258,000 to prove her innocence.
She was forced to write a 5,000-word “confession” in an attempt to prove her innocence to the “fake police”, which included her experiences from childhood to adulthood, her family situation, and a detailed study of studying in Malaysia.
The scammer asked Xiaowen to download a software on his mobile phone to monitor all her actions in real time through this software.
They implemented 24 hours of uninterrupted surveillance and brainwashing, leaving her completely isolated.
At around 2 pm on March 22, my mother, who was far away in Shandong, received a message from Xiaowen.
Xiaowen mentioned that “the policeman from Shanghai” called her and said that a fraud she participated in caused an old woman to lose her life.
The mother immediately reminded Xiaowen that this might be a telecommunications fraud and should not be believed easily. But at this time, Xiaowen was brainwashed too deeply to accept her mother’s advice.
At around 6 pm that day, my parents found that they could not contact Xiaowen at all. At around 10 o’clock that night, they learned from the study abroad teacher that a student jumped off the 39th floor and needed them to buy the fastest flight to confirm immediately.
While sorting out his daughter’s relics, Xiaowen’s parents found the 5,000-word “confession” and the chat history of the scammer on his daughter’s phone.
On August 2, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia issued a summer safety reminder, clearly pointing out that “the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Malaysia, domestic public security, procuratorial and judicial organs, or relevant departments of the Malaysian government will not notify the parties by phone that are suspected of ‘money laundering’ or involve criminal cases.”
In April 2025, Zhucheng Public Security Bureau filed an investigation into the case of Xiao Wen being defrauded. As of August 19, the case was still under the handling of the anti-fraud squadron, and it is not convenient to inform the progress.
Mr. Li said: “We really can’t stand it anymore. We just want to end this matter quickly, and there has been no result yet.”
This pair of parents who have lost their daughter are experiencing pain and torture that ordinary people can’t imagine.
