Some people suggest that local libraries should keep these notebooks.

Since Lake Tekapo doesn’t have a library, New Zealand media The Press contacted the town’s Kiwi Treasures and Information Centre staff. “It’s been a hit. Someone did hand over one copy about two months ago and I told the guy to put it back where it was… We knew it had disappeared for a while and then it was put back.”

The child’s mother said they wanted to keep the original diary, but hoped that the church could save the new ones later.
