Today, large-scale gatherings broke out across New Zealand! Calls on government sanctions on Israel


New Zealand Chinese Pioneer Comprehensive Report Today, people from about 20 towns in New Zealand took to the streets to hold a massive demonstration to oppose Israel’s military operations in Gaza and call on the government to take practical actions to impose sanctions on Israel.

The parade in the capital Wellington attracted about 2,000 people to participate, and the team stretched nearly a kilometer from Te Aro Park.

The crowd waved the Palestinian flag and slapped the iron pot, which symbolized the “most serious famine crisis” warned by the United Nations Food Security Agency.

A citizen who participated in the protest for the first time held a placard “Palestine is in our hearts” and said: “The government is silent in this humanitarian disaster, which is simply a disguised complicity. I will continue to stand up until they actually take action!”

Another participant admitted that the attack on Al Jazeera Gaza reporter was the biggest reason that prompted him to take to the streets. During the parade, many people held photos of the dead journalist Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues to express their condolences.

The protests in Auckland should not be underestimated. The famous musician Neil Finn was present in person to support Palestine with the masses and express his opposition to the war.

John Minto, co-chair of the “Palestinian Solidaria Network Aotearoa” (PSNA), the organizer of the event, said:

“The empty words are meaningless. In the face of the ongoing genocide, we demand that the New Zealand government impose sanctions on Israel immediately!”

According to him, the Wellington march was by far the largest rally against the invasion of Gaza.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand government also revealed this week that it is considering whether to recognize the status of the Palestinian state at the UN leadership meeting next month, along with France, Canada, Australia and other countries.
