Queensland Railway said that to ensure track safety, the North Coast line with Cairns as its end will be suspended until further notice.

Due to the earthquake, trains on all urban routes in Brisbane have been slowed down and train delays last up to 15 minutes.

Up to now, no reports of casualties or major property losses have been reported.
